Training Yourself and Your Leaders

I'm the point person for our church's small-groups ministry. How can I set up regular training events for our leaders?

First of all, recognize that training isn't dependent on whether you have a training evernt or not. Training is somewhat about giving leaders vital pieces of information, but leadership is caught more than it is taught. The best training will be on-the-job training. Planning lots of great training events is not bad, but if not many of your leaders are showing up, then it really isn't that helpful. Training events at the front end of the leadership development process can be very helpful and should be planned and done regularly for new leaders. Ongoing leadership training may depends more on your leadership situation. Do your leaders need more community with other leaders? Then training event may be be important to do regularly. If your leaders are already experiencing leadership community through other means in your church situation, then one-on-one coaching or smaller leader huddles may be more important to focus on.
